Rippling across the equator for nearly 5000km, Indonesia encompasses more than 17,000 islands.
For the beginner, intermediate and advanced surfer alike, this team have the know-how and the facilities to make your trip one in a million. Combined with individual accommodation right on the beach, their small size means they can adapt to your needs and desires, providing a special and unique experience. Groups can book out the whole place, having a real holiday home-from-home. Forget small rooms and dodgy showers, the cabanas are spacious, cool, beautiful and right opposite the surf.
The Lodge is based in the large Weligama Bay that picks up most swell directions. The bay has numerous beach breaks so no danger from rocks, reef or crowds. This also means it is safe for swimming and younger guests. There is an offshore reef that can be reached by one of their boats for empty waves. Being a fishing family of surfers they really know the local conditions and can help you go to the best spots at the best time, by boat or road. Surrounded by a wealth of different breaks from fast, hollow reefs to more mellow rides, it is perfect for improving your technique, all within easy reach.
The Camp currently consists of 4 beautiful Cabanas hand-crafted by local carpenters. Designed to make the most of sea breezes, all have traditional carvings and huge shuttered front walls to allow constant air flow. Rooms are en-suite and 3 of the 4 have open-air bathrooms for showers under the stars. All have a private balcony or seating area and one has its own separate living area. The cabanas are extremely spacious, giving you plenty of room to relax. They all have generous 6ft wide four-poster beds, however single beds can easily be added for sharers or to make a triple/family room.
Wherever you go in Sri Lanka you will be welcomed by some of the friendliest people in the world. Another great thing about a trip here is that it holds so much variety in such a small island. Having 7 UNESCO World Heritage sites, from sacred cities, palaces and cliff-top citadels to colonial strongholds, tea hills, waterfalls, white water rafting, mountain biking and further north kite-surfing, there truly is something for everyone. The team at the Green Lodge arrange whale watching, diving and other excursions.
Surf Camp opens 1st October 2015
The Lodge team serve fresh local produce with an emphasis on authentic Sri Lankan dishes, fresh fish BBQ's and occasional western treats! They serve a delicious breakfast of fresh fruits, roti bread, string hoppers, dahl and eggs served with tea and fruit juice - as well as Western options. Served to your balcony or bedroom if preferred. At lunchtime enjoy a traditional Sri Lankan rice and curry, salads or sambols.
Airport transfers are £75 each way, up to four people. We can also help you navigate via public transport. This is a much cheaper method of arriving at the Camp, and with a train running all the way from Colombo to Weligama, it is an easy journey with awesome views.

Hi Errant. I had a great trip, the accommodation was basic but comfortable with beautiful scenery. The surf coaching was outstanding. they brought a guy called Tom over from Cornwall who was BSA qualified and did all our lessons which was helpful. the fact that the lessons only contained small numbers meant that Tom could really focus on the minor details to help us improve without seeming critical. The food and drink were we were staying was brilliant. lots of variety and all the seafood and vegetables were fresh. Customer service was good, easy to contact and friendly. The only problem that we had was that when I booked I specifically asked for there to be two beds in the room but when we got there, there was only one bed in the room, however this was quickly sorted when speaking to the onsite manager.Luke -
Accommodation: great location, rooms and staff. We enjoyed every minute and recommend it to anyone! Surf coaching: two local surf coaches with lots of experience and knowledge of all spots. We could improve our surfing skills from day to day Food/drink: freshly prepared food on every day with a nice selection of local and western food. Lots of fresh seafood!Philipp Matzinger -
You will need to fly into Colombo Airport (CMB). For here we can arrange your private pick up for the 4 hour jounrey south to the Lodge. This is £75 each way (per 4 guests). We can also help you navigate via public transport, there is a train line that runs from Colombo to Weligama. This is a much cheeper option, so let us know which you would prefer when booking!
