Rippling across the equator for nearly 5000km, Indonesia encompasses more than 17,000 islands.
Sri Lanka, the hidden gem of the Indian Ocean, receives a watered down version of the same swells that light up Indo! Combine this with endless jungle-fringed beaches, tropical climate, rich cultural heritage, colourful curries, exotic wildlife and a welcome from the friendliest people you'll meet in the world and you've got the surf trip of a lifetime.
Shared rooms and a couple of private rooms are at the 'Beach Front' and over flow guests join the 'Lagoon' Villa as described below:
Beach Front Accommodation
Situated at Goviyapana at the South end of Ahangama, the Beach Front Camp overlooks Devil Rock with a classic wave right outside. All rooms are sea facing with private balcony or porch area. The restaurant serves up western or local breakfasts with fresh smoothies and lassies, Ceylon tea or Italian coffees. There is also an extensive lunch/dinner menu whilst drinks and cocktails are served in the relaxed bar with surf movies, laid back tunes and chill out area.
The Lagoon Retreat
The Retreat is 400m away from the Beach Front Camp nestled in the lagoon of Goviyapana. All rooms are lagoon facing with AC, hot showers, TV, mini fridge, balcony and 4 poster beds with quality sprung matresses. The retreat is a new build with stunning views across the lagoon and wavelets lapping the shore. Breakfast, lunch and evening meals are served at the Beach Front Camp a 5 minute walk across.
A typical surf day starts with an early rise, tea, coffee, fresh juice and fruit, local or western breakfast to your choice. Once energized surf lessons begin at the best beach with prevailing conditions including swell and wind direction. The afternoons include surf guiding or are free for you to visit the local sights including temples, Galle Fort, Snake farms, Turtle sanctuaries etc, or just chill back at the camp. Sundowner beers whilst checking the days surf progress on the big screen will be followed by dinner around 8pm.
Thursday is a rest day, and Sundays a late start. On Wednesdays and Saturdays guests are invited to one of the lively party beaches of Unawatuna or Mirrissa, both 15 mins away. Here you can dance the night away with sand in your toes and sea lapping at your feet, knowing there will be fresh waves in the morning.
Open dates: November to to April (Closed May to October)

Unbelievable experience. Great surf, warm weather, even warmer water, stunning scenery with so much to do in the area. Locals are great people and if your morning surf didn't get the adrenaline pumping just jump on a tuk tuk... Your Guaranteed a good time and that your maths skills will improve when our working out how cheap everything is!Sam -
The Beach Front and the Lagoon in Ahangama is well run, friendly, warm and relaxed. It truly felt like a home. The instructors are positive and patient, giving words of encouragement. The food is excellent.... especially crab on seafood BBQ night. Loved every minute of this holiday.June -
Fly into Colombo Airport, ideally direct with the most surfer friendly airline, Sri Lankan Air.
If you have booked onto our Organised Trip with Ticket To Ride then we will be waiting at the airport for you, holding up a sign with your name on it.
If you are staying with us outside these two weeks, transfers aren't included in the price but we can help you navigate via public transport down to Ahangama. There is a train line that runs from Colombo to Weligama, then it is a short tuktuk ride to Ahangama. This is a much cheaper option, so let us know which you would prefer when booking.
Alternatively, we can book you an airport transfer direct to Camp. This is £65 each-way (Colombo - Ahangama). The price is per car, so the price covers up to groups of 4.
