Santa Teresa Surf Camp

This Santa Teresa Surf Camp is based at an awesome modern house with a swmming pool, ocean views, tasty food and chilled vibes. The house is located amoungst the Costa Rican jungle, just a short hike to The Rock – one of the most renowned breaks in Costa Rica. Spend the mornings having a dawnie surf before the midday sun, then relax in a hammock back at the camp, until the soothing breeze calls for another afternoon surf.

The surf camp is situated at the top of a hill, overlooking the local surf spot (Roca Mar - 'Suck rock'). Surrounded by endless rainforest, with epic views to Manzanillo in the South and Playa Hermosa in the North. The villa has an open air design, six bedrooms and a living room with many facilities including a big lounge and a projector set-up. Outside you can enjoy hammocks and lounges, and minilounges between the dorms. The villa is blessed with a cooling afternoon breeze coming off the ocean, flowing straight through the rainforest up the hill. The bedrooms consist of two double rooms (no twins) and four quad share rooms.

Santa Teresa offers a delightful mix of everything from sodas (small local restaurants) to the best sushi you’ll ever have. The local beach, Playa Hermosa, is probably one of the world’s most beautiful beaches. The sunsets are truly magical whether you are sitting on a surfboard in the water or looking out towards the horizon from the beach. Or just sipping on a cold beer on the terrace.

Monday to Monday bookings only, in Week long denominations.

Surfing at Santa Teresa Surf Camp

Basic: If you already know how to surf, have your own equipment and just want a nice place to stay with other surfers.

Level 1: This is for you that have never surfed before or just need to refresh the basics of surfing.

Level 2: Learn to ride green waves, and to go both right and left on the wave.

Level 3: You’re riding green waves on a regular basis, and want to be comfortable in overhead conditions and do small maneuvers. Level 3 costs about £20 per week more than level 1 & 2 .

A Typical Day: Wake up early to take advantage of the perfect conditions that the off shore winds provide. After breakfast, hit the waves for two hours. Once everyone's had enough (although you never really get enough), walk back to the camp for lunch. Everything tastes great when you are surfed out and hungry! You spend the rest of the day as you please; more surf, hanging by the pool, horseback riding, doing yoga, lying on the beach etc. If you want to experience something different, you can explore the spectacular rainforest or enjoy a spot of whale watching (seasonal). In the evening you might grab a cold beer while the team light the grill and wind down, or up – depending on your mood.
