A step above the rest. Latas Surf House is simply a step above the rest and you will be made to feel at home by the team. This is a truly hassle-free surfing holiday. Rooms are newly decorated and furnished with antique Cantabrian furniture, with a splash new Spanish art-vibe. Most private rooms are en-suite and have their own colour TV and iPod station, so you can bring your own music into your room.

You can fly cheap with Ryan Air direct into Santander which is only 15 minutes away from the guest house. Flights from London can be as cheap as £20!

Beautiful accommodation set in a lush garden

Situated on the ground floor we have our very own surf bar and open area where guests can relax, watch a DVD, play on the Playstation, read a book from the library or simply chat to fellow guests about the day's surfing. The bar area has table football, pool table, internet access and a big screen projector with surf movies.

Outside you will find an amazing big garden with various parts to sneak away and soak up the sunshine.

La Hosteria is set in the small village of Latas. The Church of Latas is 50 metres away and lies directly on the route of the El Camino de Santiago (pilgrimage to the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela) !

More than just a surf holiday in Spain

There is plenty to do should you have any energy left after a day in the surf! We have listed a few here:

• Visit Santander by foot passenger boat which is a 10 minute walk from the house
• Hire a car for the day and visit the Pico's de Europa, one hour away
• Go horse-riding, river kayaking, sailing, kite surfing and quad biking, we can organise it all
• Go visit The Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao
• Go visit Cabarceno Nature Park, just 30 minutes away
• Take a yoga lesson or Spanish lesson at La Hosteria de Latas

Food and Drink

Latas Surf House has a fantastic chef's kitchen, serving homemade Spanish, Italian and English food. From paella to lasagne or big Spanish salads, there's something for everyone. Breakfast, packed lunches and dinner are available daily. Most weeks we bring out the BBQ and fire it up alongside local bands playing live music.

Of course there are plenty of amazing restaurants within a short walk or drive of La Hosteria de Latas. We can book tables, and arrange transport so you can experience "real Spain".

Surfing at Latas Surf House - Loredo

The warm prevailing winds, consistent Atlantic swells and Bay of Biscay’s enormous depth, combine to produce quality surf conditions all year in North Spain. With mild winters and great summers it is an ideal surfing destination for all levels of surfers. From early summer to early autumn, it’s possible to surf in just shorts in this region!

The main beach of Somo is over three miles long and can produce perfect beach break waves, which are surf-able throughout all the tides and are perfect for all levels. The small island of Santa Marina lies at the eastern end of Somo; here a perfect right-hand point break peels along the island, producing some of Northern Spain's best big waves.

The surf school is conveniently run from the guest house. The lessons start at 10.30am and last all morning. In the afternoon, you have the option to continue surfing at your leisure. We have a range of new equipment for 2011, including new Stand Up Paddle boards, soft surfboards, mini-mals, shortboards and longboards. Our surf instructors are all highly qualified Surfing GB (former British Surfing Association) surf coaches and qualified beach lifeguards, thus ensuring that your surfing experience is a safe and satisfying one. For those of you wishing to get better we have years of experience coaching some of Europe's best surfers, using the latest video coaching methods.
