Almugar Surf House

Introduction to Almugar Surf House

The Almugar Surf House, in Taghazoute, is located among tranquil rolling hills and overlooking the long point break waves. Vintage Berbere is flawlessly blended with modern Spanish flourishes to provide the perfect mix of style and comfort. The Almugar Surf House prepares rich, traditional cuisine, served on the beautiful roof terrace.

The difference at Almugar Surf House is all the rooms we offer are private and spacious, not a bunk bed in sight! All the rooms are of high specififcation. We recieve very good feedback about the house including "We had an amazing time there. People are super friendly and far more than helpfull. We went with our 15 month old daughter and our 10 year old son and both of them had the best time ever and didn't want to go back Home. Prices are very fair and you really get more than you expect." A true testimont that reflects the feelings of all customers who stay here.

Food and Drink

In our dining room we serve a freshly prepared breakfast buffet every morning with the option to pack your own Lunch Sandwich. Six times a week (Monday to Saturday) we provide delicious home-cooked dinners. The dining room also contains a self-service honesty fridge containing a variety of drinks and snacks.

On Sunday evenings we serve our famous Sunday BBQ. A traditional Moroccan barbecue – buffet style! With plenty of fish, beef burgers, turkey skewers, gratain, oven dishes, freshly made salad, bread and sauces to satisfy your big surfer’s appetite! There’s always enough for second and third helpings, so feel free to eat as much as you like!

Surfing at Almugar Surf House

Taghazout, Marocco, is renowned for its all year round swell. The summer months are especially suitable for beginners and intermediate surfers, while the winter season provides perfect waves for surfers of all levels – begginers to pros!

Beginners / Green Waves Catchers

All our surf teachers are qualified teachers and are advanced & experienced surfers. They will guide you through the first steps of surfing, theory and practise. The lessons are two hours a day and you will learn about waves, currents, type of boards, pop ups and catching green waves. We believe longer than two hours will not be in your advantage as most beginners are not used to be in the water the all day. We know that only a certain amount of hours a day will be effective and our experience is that the most progress will be achieved by taking it in steps.

Our surf lesson programme is supported by a 1 Hours Beginner/Intermediate video that we will show once a week in our surf house cinema. This video will help you to visualise all the steps in surfing.Take a look at our section teamriders to get to know our surf teachers Ayoub & Abdel (moroccan champ). Both very skilled surfers and very disciplined, patienced teachers. Safety is priority and we work with bright coloured lycras which is obligated to wear during the surflessons. Also we use beachflags which are used as landmarks. In that way you know where you are going and knowing where to get out.

Advanced Lessons

Abdel is our teacher for advanced surf lessons. Starting your first – Aerials – Bottum Turns – Cut Backs – Round the House – 360 and more will be the focus of this lesson. These lessons will only be given as a private lesson and has to be booked on location. Important note that you have to master duck dive, pop up, catching green waves and be in physically in good shape. These lessons only operate depending on the surfing conditions and the students surfing level.

I just wanted to write and say a big thank you to Dan who took our lesson yesterday.  I had bought vouchers for 2 friends birthday presents with your surf school last year and they finally booked in and took a lesson in the rain yesterday and 2 of us joined them for lessons with Dan.   They really enjoyed themselves so I just wanted to say thank you.  Dan was very patient and a good instructor...I even managed to stand a couple of times, even though it was only for a couple of seconds!!  But I found it a more useful lesson than the ones I have had previously and when I return to Newquay in the future I will definately be booking in for another lesson with your school   Please pass on my thanks to Dan as we were too knackered to come back in the afternoon!!
