Surfing at Surf Camp - Seignosse

The south west beach breaks of France can produce some of Europe's best waves, with the autumn, winter and spring seasons receiving the most powerful & consistent swell. However it is the summer months when warm, bath like water blends with fun smaller swells to equate to long summer surf days where it is possible to surf from 5.30am till 11.30pm everyday! The quality of the sand banks is down to the unusual formations called "baines" - circular lagoons of sand in the line up, created by currents refracting and eddying off the coast.

Due to the long sandy beach, consistent swell it is advisable to keep checking the waves. What an be nothing more than a dribble in the morning can soon turn into world class waves by the afternoon. It pays to be on top of the surf during the summer months. More advanced surfers will choose to come to France during the months of March, April, May and September, October and November. the classic months for France, Spain and Portugal when a more active Atlantic is producing stronger swells.
