The "Domaine de Bellegarde" is a beautiful 19th century stately home (luxury villa) with six acre estate in Soustons, Landes region, just a short distance from the outstanding Atlantic beaches of Soustons, Hossegor, Moliets and Biarritz. This outstanding property offers luxury holidays to the most discerning of British and international clients. Built in 1900, and entirely restored in 2002-2003, arguably one of the most beautiful houses in Soustons, it is the largest property in the village, and has many qualities one would expect from a luxury residence.
It boasts 9 large en-suite bedrooms, a grand reception lounge and hall, spacious dining room, billiards room and anterooms, with high ceilings, original parquet floors and an impressive oak staircase. The villa is set amongst 2.6 hectares of land, with a swimming pool, tennis court, century old trees and beautiful mature gardens. It has been renovated tastefully and to a very high standard.
All stays at our luxury guesthouse are catered by a dedicated team. A luxury breakfast is served daily, Continental style, as well as the Full English cooked breakfast, if desired. You will find a selection of fruit juices, breads, pastries, local preserves, cereals, fruit and natural yoghurts, a choice of teas, filter coffee and fresh fruit. The cooked breakfast is made to order from 7:30am until 9:30am every day, ensuring that a fresh breakfast is always available whether you plan an early round of golf or opt for a well deserved lie-in.
Breakfast can be enjoyed in the grand dining room, on the lawn outside the dining room or on the poolside terrace. A choice of English newspapers will be available to read during breakfast. Return to the villa at your convenience to find a selection of delicious home made cakes and biscuits for you to enjoy with a soft drink, fresh juice, hot chocolate, tea or coffee. Be sure not to spoil your evening appetite!
On some days, lunch will be served instead of dinner, giving you the opportunity to sample some of the finest restaurants in the region. Lunches include a Gourmet BBQ with fresh meat, fish and salads, a 3-course lunch with wine and beer included, and on one day we will prepare a complimentary gourmet picnic hamper for you to enjoy on the beach or during a day's cycle trip.
A pre dinner aperitif is served together with a selection of home-made canapés from 7:30pm onwards. Your delicious 4 course evening meal follows at 8:00pm. A complimentary regional wine is served throughout dinner followed by fresh filter coffee and after dinner chocolates or petit fours. An a-la-carte wine list is also available, offering a selection of some fabulous wines stored in our very own cellar.
A variety of surf breaks cater to both beginners and more experienced surfers. Your host Quintin grew up in Cornwall and is passionate about surfing having surfed for the past 18 years. He would be happy to show you to some of the more 'out of the way' surf spots, so that you get the most out of the your surfing experience.
Seawater temperatures are fantastic with an average sea temperature of 25°C for the summer months! The sea temperature has a lag effect after summer and remains above 18°C into October and doesn't fall lower than 12°C for the coldest winter months. This means summer is board shorts and sun cream and a shorty wetsuit can be worn in autumn.
Over 50 beaches exist in the stretch of coast from Biscarrosse in the North of Landes to Hendaye in the South of Basque country, not including those secret spots that the locals try to keep to themselves!
