Surfing Holidays in Jefferies Bay, South Africa with Errant Surf Travel

J-Bay - South Africa

Surfing

Locals reckon that Jefferies Bay was known as the place of dreaming, and it’s easy to see why. With miles of seemingly endless ivory sand, littered with the largest variety of shells washed up by the tide, and some of the best bathing beaches - it’s a special place for any beach bum. Jefferies Bay or J-Bay as it is affectionately known, is sandwiched between the scenic garden route and sunshine coast – so called as this region has more sunshine hours than any other.

Perfect start to the day - South Africa

The frequent winter SW swells and the odd East swell that hit this SE facing coastline, turn on dozens of world-class point breaks. J-Bay is one of the world's most famous waves and for a good reason, the leg burning rights peel for over 800 meters along this sand/rock bottom. J-Bay quite rightly attracts the media attention but waves like Seal Point, Bruce's Beauties, Leftovers, Hullet's Reef and Clapton's Colis are not to be missed.

Surf School

We have some of the best surf instructors in South Africa. All qualified under the BSA scheme up to level three. First time surfer or seasoned pro, you can be sure you will improve on a trip to J-Bay with Errant. Beginner lessons are run at Dolphin Beach, a very safe, gentle beach break and our intermediate lessons at Kitchen Windows, a gentle reef break with easy lefts and rights. More advanced surfers will hone their skills at J-Bay including Super Tubes. Head coach Etienne has been the coach of the British team during the ISA Aloha Cup.
