Errant surf holidays offers dozens of learn to surf courses around the globe. We can teach you to surf in some of the worlds most spectacular locations, of course each surf school holds relevant licences and qualifications for it's country.
If you can already surf, but want to get better, then nothing beats a trip away to somewhere warm, with nothing else to do all day but surf! Our team will be on hand to offer advice and guidance. We can also book intermediate, and private surf coaching sessions. In fact many of our coaches actually coach up to contest surfers, so there is always room for improvement!
Ok lets take a look and what you should expect when starting out.
Firsty, if you are coming away to learn to surf, we would suggest you can swim at least 50m in a pool. While you are learning to surf, you do remain waist deep at all times, but the 50m rule is really the only prerequisite to the start of your surfing career. Anyone can learn to surf, young (as young as 4), old (as old as 69), male, female, short, tall, fat, slim, it really doesn't matter. What matters is the will, and love to give it a go, and who knows it might not be long before your shooting the barrel at some remote Indonesian island!
While methods vary a little from surf coach to surf coach, in your first lesson the surf instructor will go over the basics. These include ocean safety, things like how to spot a rip, how to wipeout, tides, lifeguard flag system relevent to the country you are in. Then it's time for a bit of dry land surf coaching. You will have time to practice lying on the board in the "prone" position, how to paddle out, how to paddle for a broken wave, how to stand up (the tricky bit) and how to stay on!
Then its time to hit the water. The surf coaches will be on hand to give you advice as you progress. Before long your be up and riding the whitewater waves back to the beach.
Great, so whats next?
Well that's just the start. Our surf coaches are qualified to teach you how to paddle out back to catch un-brocken waves, how to turn, generate speed, perform manuevores, like floaters, cutbacks both frontside and backside. Think snowboarding, but in the sunshine and in the sea.
