BSA Surf Coach Courses - Level's 1 and 2

Fancy a break from your normal nine-to-five job? Want to travel and teach surfing?

Well now, with Errant, you can train with us to become a British Surfing Association surf instructor. We run level 1 and level 2 surf coach courses/surf instructor courses and NARS beach lifeguard courses back to back, allowing you to gain two qualifications that will enable you to coach surfing and lifeguard around the world.

You will need to complete your BSA Level One Surf Coach Award, NARS Beach Lifeguard Award and thirty hours work experience surf coaching to gain the full certificate, all of which can be done in Newquay with us.


BSA Surf Coach Courses

BSA / UKCC Level 1 BSA / UKCC Level 2 BSA UKCC Level 3  
Qualification Description Deliver aspects of coaching sessions under supervision. Plan, deliver and review coaching sessions e.g. Coach a group of surfers
Plan, implement ,analysis and revise annual coaching programme
 
Who is it for? Club/School Coaches working under the guidance of a Head Coach, Coaching co-coordinator or NGB scheme. Club/School coach of group of player
e.g. club youth coach, surf school coach, teacher, talent development coach
Head coach of adult squad. School, club youth section or programme, age grade representative coach.  
On successful completion of the course you will be able to:

Safely organise and supervise beginner surfing activities.

Demonstrate an understanding of and an ability to coach / demonstrate:
• Beach Safety
• Prone to feet techniques for various different groups of people
• Development of length of ride.

Demonstrate an understanding of:
• Surf Etiquette
• Good coaching
• Coaching skills
• Health and Safety

Understand the ethical coaching process, the needs of surfers and related issues in Sports Science.

Plan, conduct and review a series of coaching sessions in a systematic and progressive manner.

Coach a programme of improvers to ride the open wave face with progressive and correctly timed turns.

Promote and establish positive working relationships and high standards of behavior

Ensure health and safety of all surfers

Promote surfing in a positive manner
Demonstrate an understanding of advanced surfing principals

Analysis participants current and potential performance needs and aspirations

Plan an annual coaching programme according to agreed goals

Manage a safe and effective coaching environment

Deliver a coaching programme using a range of coaching styles and interventions to meet surfers needs

Monitor and evaluate an effective coaching programme

Manage and develop personal coaching practice
Coach techniques and tactical concepts of surfing

 
Duration

2 Days: Theory and practical  + 40 hours work experience 

3 Days: Theory and Practical. 4 Day course: Theory and Practical + 6 external credits  

Prerequisites

• Attend Sports Coach U.K Child Protection workshop
• 16 years Old
• CRB Check
• BLG Qualification
• 18 years old
• Hold a BSA level 1 coaching qualification
• Attendance of a Range of rCPD
• 21 years old
• Hold a BSA level 2 coaching qualification

• Demonstrate the attendance of CPD
