The best surf locations in Peru

Peru in South America is an epic fantasyland for the avid traveller. Imagine stumbling across forgotten temples fighting with jungle vines, imperial tombs baking in the sun and ancient treasures beyond reckoning. Raging wild rivers around Cuzco, pumas that prowl in the night and centuries old hallucinogenic shaman rituals. After all, this is Peru the South American country that has been fought over from empire after empire – even Inca warriors and Spanish conquistadors didn’t stand chance. No one could take over this outstanding terrain, from the Cordillera Blanca with dozens of peaks exceeding 5000m, down to the vast coastal deserts and the incredible rainforests of the Amazon.

With such an extensive coastline the surf zones are split into four regions Piura to the north bordering with Ecuador, followed to the south is the region of Trujillo. Continuing to the south is the region and capital of Lima and then further south to the border with Chile.
