Hidden along the cobbled lanes of the historical town of Lagos is a range of accommodation for all surfers. From Lagos, you can head off-road (and on-road) to surf some of south Portugal’s best surf breaks. The beaches around Lagos are some of the most beautiful in the Algarve region, like Praia de Dona Ana, which can be reached after a 25 minutes walk from the centre of the town, Praia do Camilo, a little further on, and Meia Praia, whose sands stretch for 4 km (2.5 miles) east of Lagos. All this great weather, surf and history are a short flight away from Northern Europe, making this the number one surf destination for any surfer, at any level.

Lagos is a town and a municipality at the mouth of Bensafrim River and along the Atlantic Ocean, in the region of the Algarve, in Algarve's Barlavento (windward), Southern Portugal.[1] This municipality has a total population of 29,298 inhabitants. The town of Lagos has approximately 19,000 residents. It is a historic (Portuguese Discoveries) and touristic city (beaches).The majority of the population lives along the coastal line and works in tourism and services. The inland region is sparsely inhabited, with the majority of the people working in agriculture and forestry. Lagos is one of the most visited cities in the Algarve and Portugal, due to its big variety of beaches, bars, restaurants, and hotels. It is also renowned for its vibrant nightlife and parties, especially during summer.

This town has the oldest slave market in Europe (dating back to the 15th century) and it was in Lagos that Caravels were build and set sail to the new world, along with other Portuguese cities, such as Lisbon, Oporto and Viana do Castelo.
